Founder, Daniel K. Grier

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Daniel Grier is the founder of Splashed by DKG, a bold, luxury streetwear brand known for its statement prints and custom designs. Splashed by DKG launched in the Fall of 2013 after receiving a life altering diagnosis that same year. During that dark time, Daniel started tie-dying his own clothes in his mom’s garage, and after uploading some work on social media, quickly realized he had a natural talent for giving garments new life.
Splashed by DKG gave Daniel purpose again with his first love— fashion. Using his art to build his confidence, He set out to leave his mark on the world. He began adding his signature “Splash” to garments from vintage stores and friends. He created bold art that made people bold and confident, like superheroes ready to take on the world. Daniel wants people to know that just like he takes an old garment and gives it new life, you too can start over in life, paint a new picture, and make a “Splash.”
As Splashed by DKG rose to popularity, Daniel set out to make another Splash, this time to highlight the often overlooked talent in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. In 2017, Daniel founded Magic City Fashion Week, an inclusive platform for creatives to showcase and sharpen their skills on the big stage. He wanted people to get a closer look at why he does what he does, how he overcame his struggles, and how he uses his voice and platform to amplify others’ voices. To date, MCFW has raised money for many non profits, hosted HIV testing events across the Southeast, partnered with over 100 Birmingham-based businesses, highlighted over 50 artists of color, provided funding to 3 emerging designers to better their careers, and continues to raise the bar for the creative community in the city of Birmingham, AL.
The Splashed by DKG brand has been featured in over 50 fashion shows, five fashion weeks, and a number of blogs and magazines. Daniel’s childhood dream of dressing celebrities is coming true, too. The Harlem Globetrotters, Anuel, Tamar Braxton, and Prince Royce have all worn his designs. And recently Splashed by DKG made a Splash on the cover of Syleena Johnson’s “Woman” album.
"Always remember you can’t screw up your destiny. You can always start over and make a Splash."
